Copy the original before converting
Record the value, unit, document date and equipment reference exactly as provided. Keep dimensions labeled by length, width and height. Preserve the source’s description of what a weight includes. Do not strip units when moving information into a spreadsheet or listing note.
Label converted figures
If a converted value is useful, show it alongside the original and identify it as converted. Keep reasonable precision rather than adding misleading decimal places to a rough source measurement. Have the intended provider verify critical planning inputs rather than treating your conversion as a handling specification.
Watch for more than a unit difference
Two values may describe different configurations or measurement boundaries rather than different unit systems. Check whether an enclosure, trailer, tank or attached component is included in each source. Do not average conflicting figures or force them to match by rounding.
Send the source with the summary
Attach the relevant document or photo so the buyer can verify the original notation. If a translated or transcribed summary is supplied, label it and preserve unresolved terms. Keep the complete-set identity visible so a correct conversion is not mistakenly applied to the wrong model.
