How to report generator dimensions and weight for sale

By SellMyGen Editorial Team

A dimension or weight figure is only useful when its scope is clear. Tell buyers what was measured, what the figure includes and whether it is documented or estimated.

01

Define the measurement boundary

State whether dimensions describe the complete enclosed package, the skid only or a separate component. Note attached protrusions and loose items that are outside the reported dimensions. Include units for every figure. A bare sequence such as 180 by 72 by 90 is ambiguous without labels and a measurement boundary.

02

Use sources that match the assembly

Attach manufacturer documentation or another reliable record where available and identify its model/configuration match. Record whether a weight is described as dry, operating or otherwise qualified by the source. Do not assume a catalog figure covers added tanks, trailers or later modifications; preserve those limitations in your notes.

03

Mark measured and estimated values differently

If authorized site personnel take accessible measurements, record the date, method and any obstructed dimension. Do not create a false sense of precision by adding decimal places to an estimate. Avoid climbing or moving equipment to obtain a sales measurement. Leave inaccessible values unconfirmed for a qualified site review.

04

Let the handling provider confirm suitability

Provide the information to the selected qualified removal or transport provider for its own planning. Your inventory is not a lifting plan or confirmation of route suitability. Record which values the provider still needs to verify before collection and who is responsible for obtaining that confirmation.
