What to check when your generator receives no bids

By SellMyGen Editorial Team

No response does not tell you why a buyer declined to engage. Use a structured review to distinguish an incomplete package from a mismatch in equipment, timing or collection requirements.

01

Check whether the package is reviewable

Verify that set identity, rating, condition and equipment location are clear. Open the attachments and confirm that plate text is readable. Check for conflicting values or inaccessible links in the materials actually shared. A complete internal folder does not help if the buyer received only a partial summary.

02

Ask a focused feedback question

Through the agreed communication channel, ask whether the obstacle is missing evidence, equipment fit, pickup scope, timing or another stated reason. Record the buyer’s answer as given. Do not convert silence into a claim that the generator has no value or assume every buyer has the same purchasing criteria.

03

Change one uncertainty at a time

If buyers ask for a specific record or removal clarification, address that point and issue a dated package update. Keep the earlier description so you can tell what changed. Avoid paying for broad repairs or extra testing without understanding which question the work is intended to resolve.

04

Keep response history separate from valuation

Log the date, package version, response and stated reason where available. A nonresponse is not a zero-dollar bid and should not be entered as one in pricing data. If no actionable proposals emerge, reassess the sale route and timing with the owner using the evidence you have.
