Take a readable photo of the alternator’s plate only when it can be reached without removing guards or entering an unsafe area. Include a wider view that locates it in the assembly. Record manufacturer, model and serial exactly as shown, preserving suffixes and separators rather than shortening unfamiliar codes.
Keep the component record distinct
Label the photo and transcription as alternator information. Continue to use the complete-set plate for the set identity. Do not substitute an alternator rating for the assembled generator’s documented rating. If the complete-set plate is missing, both the component evidence and the identification gap should appear in the package.
Choose reference material by exact model
Use the manufacturer’s manual library to locate the relevant product family, then check the model and revision against your equipment. A general manual can aid a reviewer, but it does not establish that your component has been tested or meets a particular condition.
Include changes and supporting records
If the alternator was replaced or repaired, attach the documentation you have and identify the date. State whether the component serial in older reports matches the one currently installed. Where the connection is uncertain, ask for specialist review instead of silently merging different component histories.
